What is on show

The National Trust is “turning back the clock for a nostalgic trip to the 1970s and 1980s”: the rooms are dressed with tinsel, baubles and bright colours, 1970s and 80s records play through the Hall, and you can pick up a glass of Babycham as you go round (National Trust, It’s Christmaaas! at Hanbury Hall). The Trust suggests allowing around three hours for the house, café and gardens.

Downstairs in the Hall is accessible, with ramped access. There is no accessible route upstairs; you will be offered a video of the upper rooms instead. Buggies and prams have to be left outside the Hall.

Tickets are £18, booking is essential on 0344 249 1895, and the Trust says it is not suitable for children. The Courtyard Kitchen opens from 6pm for refreshments. On Sunday 6 December, the Voices Unlimited choir, around 35 singers, performs 1970s and 1980s Christmas songs from the staircase of the Main Hall at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, about 20 minutes each. It is free with admission, first come first served, and the upstairs rooms close during each set (National Trust).
